Frequently Asked Questions

The Details

My roots are in piano instruction. However, I’m committed to meeting the growing needs of my students and look forward to providing quality instruction for various instruments.

I teach from preschool and reading age through adulthood.

Research shows that music education improves children’s satisfaction with academics and increases academic confidence. I work to instill students with a strong work ethic, and my traditional style will aid in other areas such as reading comprehension and math theory.

Students should be prepared in their own homes with a working instrument. Lessons incorporate flashcards, instructional materials, and thoughtfully selected books on music. I provide the classroom experience in the comfort of your home. A list of necessary items can be provided at the beginning of a session block or upon request.

My standardized rate is $30 per 35 minute lesson. For siblings, a unique rate can be discussed when you contact me, where we can establish a price that’s right for you.

Absolutely. Whether you are looking for more convenient lessons or just to expand your child’s knowledge, I take students at all skill levels. I create a unique curriculum that will focus on the skills of the student.

Times and the number of sessions required are decided in collaboration with you. Together, we will establish a schedule that is most conductive to learning.

Parents

At Chord Music Studios, I believe that the process is just as important as the outcome. Your child will show improved playing ability, but I’m also looking to improve their overall confidence and inspire them through music. What may sound like noise for a while is the process of learning, and each student will gain unique benefits fostering a love of learning that moves beyond just playing an instrument.

Students come in all shapes and sizes, and each will take a unique road when playing music. I look to tailor their teaching to their personal needs. I believe that everyone can play given patience and a desire to learn, while some will show a strong aptitude for playing immediately. In as early as a few weeks or months, a student will be able to play a short, simple song. Quality over speed is the primary goal as your child grows into an accomplished musician.

Sessions come with a standard quarterly progress report that you can use for your homeschooling or public school. Upon request, written grade reports will be made at the end of each session block that you can use in your own records.

I provide music lessons to you and your child, whether home school or as an extracurricular class. I will maintain a clear and honest communication with you. No hidden fees or surprise purchases. I will work with you to make music lessons an enjoyable integration into your daily routines. You can trust in having a professional teaching your child.

Playing in your home, I recognize that the allure of music can be hard to resist. At Chord Music Studios, I’ll encourage regular break out moments during classes for flashcards, quizzes, and yes, even playing.
